Different types of adjustment for different bodies and needs
I am Webster Certified, a technique designed for a prenatal patient. The focus of this method is the sacrum, the triangular shaped bone in the back of the pelvis. This bone plays an important role in pregnancy and birth requiring it to move to allow for the changes needed at each stage; adjustments are focused on maintaining proper movement in this joint. Webster includes addressing muscles in the hips and glute as well as ligaments in the belly and pelvis. The overall goal is to help the pregna
Many people don’t even know this type of chiropractic exists! It can be transformative for a new born to receive treatment, especially if they are suffering from; constipation, colic, torticolis, positional preferences (ex head always turned to one side or hate riding in a carseat), or reflux. Often patients are referred to me when they have feeding issues, concern/ diagnosis of tongue tie, or plagiocephally. Adjustments to this population are extremely gentle and often include cranial work.
This adjustment is often done moving around the office while we play with blocks, puzzles, or on the table. It can be done using manual adjusting (using much gentler force than what is used on an adult) or with an Activator (a spring loaded tool used to make specific adjustments). Cranial work may still be utilized at this age but is more difficult to utilize as it requires prolonged touch to the skull or in the mouth; generally kids have a more difficult time allowing for cranial work as they t
This can apply to dad, grandma, or anyone who doesn’t fall into one of the above categories. Treatment often includes manual adjusting but is tailored to each patient and their specific needs. Sometimes alternative forms of adjusting may be necessary including drop table, Activator, or Cox Flexion and Distraction. The amount of force and the way it is applied is unique to not only each individual but to each treatment.

Using a metal tool along the skin, this therapy is meant to target the fascia (the connective tissue just beneath the skin). This is often used to address issues including post surgical scars, old injuries that left noticeable scaring, trigger finger, plantar fasciitis, and frozen shoulder. The technique can feel like pressure to pain depending on the region the treatment is applied and the underlying issue being addressed.
I try to assign my patients “homework” that is reasonable for them. I will only send them home with exercise or stretches I feel are specific to their need and will have a positive impact on their concerns. Addionally, I try to use what is already accessible instead of needing new and special tools or equipment. I understand daily exercises/ stretches are almost never attainable, so I work to create reasonable at home programs.
The way that you use your body on a regular basis will make the biggest impact on your overall health. With this in mind, I try to teach you how to use your body better to keep you out of my office and feeling your best on your own!
